Fishing requires patience. You may have to wait for hours before you actually catch a fish. If you are a good angler you may want to wait for the fish to fall in the trap. However if you don't have that much of patience, then you can try out what is known as Trolling. You can even catch a trout using this method. Trolling has many advantages especially because you go for fishing with an investigating mind set.

Other than fishing, you can also see a number of new and fascinating things while Trolling. Boats appear mysterious and very creepy when they disappear in the morning fog. You can also see some wild animals coming to the bank to drink water or some dogs and otters playing at the bank. It's fascinating to see beavers catching a trout from the water and eagles pouncing down to catch a fish. This new and enthralling seascape will provide you with the much needed break through.

However according to anglers trolling is done especially to catch fishes! Trolling is most fruitful when the water is extremely clear. Bait fishing is a good option if it is muddy and off color. These fish are attracted by the vibrations produced by the lure but they must see the lure because they zoom in on it. So trolling should be done in clear water, you require a bait if you are doing it in muddy and murky water.

The lure or the bait must reach the trout if you want to catch them. You must know the depth at which trout is found and you should be able to get your bait or lure to that depth. You can use a fish finder to find the exact depth. You can also ask the local people. Trout float up especially within the top 10 feet during spring time and winter months.

It is however not easy to get the lure or the bait to the required depth. You can learn this with experience. You must always have a proper weight and light monofilament line with a lure while trolling. This will give you good results. You have to guess the depth initially and with experience you will be able to make out the trolling depth. For example you may see a fish at twenty feet, so you may find another one at eighteen or twenty feet. You need to put your lure in depth zones in which these fish are swimming. Choose the weight accurately, even if the exact depth is not reached you are still in fish catching area.

Using a weight with lure can have drag problems. You can however use a needle fish which is a light lure. This will not create much drag. You don't want the lure to troll too deeply, and this will make sure that this does not happen. You must attack the fish from below. To verify your depth you must use a sinker. However you can also use the weight of the lure for this purpose.

You learn about this fishing with experience. The most convenient thing to use in this fishing is a seven foot, light weight rod. The rod should have a spinning reel or conservative bait which casts reel. Trout loves to eat the baitfish, so your lure must closely resemble the baitfish. It should be of the right color and size and it must also have a fine swimming action. Triple Teasers and one Needlefish are highly recommended for trolling. You can also use a monofilament line with a light lure when the fish is near the surface.

Trolling is a very good method for catching the trout. You should learn the techniques to get the lure to the fish's depth. You must also use the right lure. With experience you can troll as good as any seasoned angler!
