So there will be a chance of survive to the fish and reproduce for other generations. Here are some of the safe ways to handle the fish: • Use a handle net and keep the fish in the water or wet your hands if you must briefly handle the fish to unhook it. • If deeply hooked, cut the line as close to the hook as possible. Do not try to force remove a hook from deep within the fish. Be careful when you are cutting the line. • Try and revive exhausted fish by swiftly moving water through its gills. Move the fish headfirst through the water while supporting its belly, holding its mouth open, and letting the gills wide open. Release it gently so that it swims away in to the current.
